The Toronto Zoo is currently on strike, so we headed East to the Brantford Twin Valley Zoo. It's not the most photographer friendly zoo I've ever been to, but I was nevertheless able to shoot this beautiful Peacock through the enclosure.
What's unusual about the new herd of wild horses that I found recently is that they tend to coexist with wild/feral cows. I don't know how many generations ago these cows escaped their tamed life, but they now live freely, untagged, reproducing, and apparently hanging out with their horse friends. For some reason, this cow and her two calves were standing near a high-pressure gas pipeline. I love the expression on the cow. It's almost as if she is outraged by the warning sign's implication.
I drove past a ranch today and spotted this tiny calf nursing his mother. Some might take issue with all forms of farming, but I was happy to capture this beautiful moment, so far removed from the horrors of factory farming.
